This lease-leaseback project involved the development of the Central Region MacArthur Park Elementary School Addition to an existing K through 2 school. The project site encompassed approximately 2.6 acres and consisted of approximately 35,000 SF of new construction providing an additional 14 classrooms in a three-story building which serve approximately 350 students in grades K through 5. The project also includes a new multi-purpose building, library, food services building, food shelter, 59 underground parking spaces for faculty and staff, and includes installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Grand View Street and West 7th Street. To make room for the addition, the existing food service and surface parking were demolished. Amenities include an EMS system, intrusion detection systems, CCTV and audio surveillance systems, public address system, MATV, A/V system, lighting control system and infrastructure for the LAUSD computer system. Exterior amenities include a large playground and courts for handball, basketball, volleyball and tetherball.
